Its value contribution provides its members great guidance in 4 areas: connection and experience exchange, raising awareness and training, cost saving and disseminate good practices.

The Club works within four areas of expertise specifically designed to fit their members’ needs. The main goal is to create a cluster of activities suited to helping the understanding and further improving of business management, encouraging the exchange of experiences and knowledge, and bettering the visibility of good business management techniques.

AREA ACTIVITIES

SUSTAINABILITY

The transition from a linear to a circular economy and towards sustainability is one of the principal vectors of change in our society, as well as an exceptional priority within the European Union’s framework program. This shift, although still incipient in many aspects, brings up widely diverse and intense challenges and opportunities for the entirety of the economic fabric. From 2018 on, the Club de Calidad, has intensified its focus on the objective of raising awareness in management techniques, providing training and disseminating a proper exchange of experiences in said matter.

The Club Asturiano de Calidad actively collaborates with the Government of the Principality of Asturias through the General Directory of Public Governance, Transparency, Civic Participation and 2030 Agenda. Its main objective being the dissemination of the Agenda for 2030 and of the Objectives of Sustainable Development within the Asturian population.

A project that aims to foster the training of professionals in matters such as environment-friendly practices and other competencies which allow for an easier adaptation to the circular economic model. This measure points to a decrease of the national and regional unemployment rate, a greater economic sustainability, and an improvement of the population index in rural areas.

A project launched during 2022 by the Club de Calidad in collaboration with the Gijón City Hall, in which the main objective was to make a substantial contribution to the European climate change challenge: a program aimed at achieving the use of a low-carbon economy and climate neutrality.

AREA ACTIVITIES

MANAGEMENT

Originally, the Club Asturiano de Calidad was a network of ISO 9001-certified companies with the main objective of promoting management-awareness campaigns and experience-exchange sessions. Nowadays, 25 years later and having faced enormous changes in all of their fields of expertise, the Club de Calidad is still successfully instructing their members on advanced management techniques with the help of specific regulations and administration models.

In collaboration with the Instituto Asturiano de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales (Asturian Institute for Labor Risk Prevention), the Club de Calidad has created a tool that allows browsing a list of organizations which have an ISO 45001 certificate.
The guide of regulations specifies the requirements to create an administration system that deals with Health and Safety at Work, making sure each organization can effectively manage risk control and further improve their skills in said field.

AREA ACTIVITIES

PRODUCTIVITY

Some of the most important parts of the management field are continuous improvement, incremental innovation, process efficiency, and all of the actions that allow for enhanced productivity. From the previously mentioned use models and regulations to an approach that involves lean and agile methodologies, the range of tools and solutions organizations can make use of is greatly broad, useful, and of universal reach.

A project that deals with the initial analysis of the digitalization state in Asturias, a study from which risk-and-opportunity data can be evaluated in regard to later implementing said digitalization both adequately and successfully.

The Club de Calidad offers diverse good-practice guidelines that cover a wide scope of the Digital Transformation field: from general takes on managing the needed cultural changes in order to achieve digitalization, to more specific elements such as the regulation of industries’ data value chain.

The Club the Calidad is also partnered up with PFS Group in the coordination of a master’s degree that has already been offered in five occasions by the Instituto Universitario de la Empresa (Business University Institute, tightly linked to the University of Oviedo).

AREA ACTIVITIES

HUMAN RESOURCES

These last few years, the importance of human resources management has exponentially grown among the list of priorities for the Club’s members as it is a fundamental part to be successful in other areas. Furthermore, no other aspect of business management is as challenging as the human factor, nor provides bigger competitive advantages in case of being successful.

Soft skills are a combination of social skills, attitudes and professional attributes which qualify people to carry out a proper work performance in combination with hard skills. From the Club, soft skills are developed through classical middle management training itineraries targeted towards business leaders, those with management potential, manufacturing positions and team leaders in production environments.

A project directed towards the encouraging of young women who have started their professional career in the STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) to decide the direction of their future and become confident in their forthcoming learning capabilities.

The Asturian Institute of Labor Risk Prevention and the Asturian DGT (Asturian branch of the National Department of Traffic) have welcomed this Seal as an initiative to improve occupational road safety in the Principality.
The Seal is used as a tool to recognize and encourage the proper management of occupational road safety. Through the implementation of requirements based on the Guide for Road Safety specifically designed for businesses in 2016, Road Safety Plans have been created for businesses to follow from 2020 onwards.

A project directed towards the encouragement and recognition of good practices linked to “heathy” companies (prioritization of healthy lifestyles) in Asturias. Almost exclusively offered to members of the Club de Calidad, this project includes training, personalized assessments, experience exchange sessions managed with leader organizations, as well as improvement plans and public recognition of their participation.

Work Groups

The Club’s Work Groups are spaces designed specifically to share challenging aspects, exchange experiences and propose collaborative solutions while working alongside the other members of the Club.
“Work Groups” is a free initiative exclusively offered to members of the Club which englobes around 20 yearly activities divided into 7 categories:

  • CIOS
  • Manufacturing

  • Leadership and People

Formación

The Club de Calidad designs their training programs specifically following their members’ needs in each of the four fields that are currently prioritized. Some of the programs that stand out the most are the Master’s Degree in Operation Management and Lean Six Sigma in collaboration with the University of Oviedo, and the Soft Skills training – especially the course on Management Skills for Middle Management Positions, which has been imparted for more than 30 editions.
